Description
In this class, we’ll explore the beautiful “modern midrash” of Michal Lemberger’s short story collection After Abel and Other Stories. Lemberger chooses nine different Biblical women whose stories are well known but whose narratives are sparse; this short story collection brings their voices to the forefront in a whole new way.
Throughout the semester, we’ll read the original Biblical texts alongside their short stories, uncovering the many layers of meaning woven into each text. Lemberger’s work invites all of us, as women today, to uncover our own truths from within both the Biblical stories and her re-writings.
This class meets weekly from 10am-11am in person, with zoom options available. Location and zoom link provided upon registration.
