Join us for an eight-session Women’s Torah Study Cohort exploring the voices and stories of women throughout the Five Books of the Torah. Gather with a pluralistic, intergenerational community of women to discover how Torah and the women within its narratives continue to speak to our lives today. Whether you are new to Jewish learning or have years of experience, this cohort offers a welcoming and supportive space for meaningful study, discussion, and connection.

Co-sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Institute and Jewish National Fund-USA and taught by Rabbi Emily Langowitz, this special series is open to women of all ages and backgrounds.

Sessions will be held from 6:30–8:30 PM on: August 20, September 24, October 20, November 19, January 14, February 11, March 11, April 15.

  • Online Weekly Parsha: Women’s Torah Study

    This class is designed for those who have studied for many years, as well as for those who are just beginning.  We will explore themes from the weekly parsha, the narratives and law that inform Jewish consciousness each week.
    Bring your open heart and curious mind, and your favorite copy of the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible.  Participants will read the Parsha before class, and will receive a commentary sheet for reference during class.
    We will meet on Zoom, and the link will be sent shortly before the course begins.

  • Tuesday Morning Talmud: Big Talmudic Ideas

    This semester in our Tuesday Morning Talmud class, we will be exploring the big ideas that serve as the backbone for so much Talmudic discussion. These ideas made up the rabbis’ spiritual vocabulary and contributed to how they saw themselves and the world around them. From more common concepts like “pikuach nefesh” – that saving a life nearly always takes precedent over other commandments – to fanciful storytelling that invokes ideas like “The Torah wasn’t given to the ministering angels,” this semester’s study will help ground you in the flow of Talmudic concepts that remain relevant in Jewish life today.

    Our Talmud class is for learners of all levels – join a supportive group of women interested in seeing how these ancient texts continue to offer wisdom for our twenty-first century lives. All are welcome, whether you’re a long-time student or want to try out Talmud for the first time.

    This class meets weekly from 10am-11am in person, with zoom options available. Location and zoom link provided upon registration.
