Description
This semester in our Tuesday Morning Talmud class, we will be exploring the big ideas that serve as the backbone for so much Talmudic discussion. These ideas made up the rabbis’ spiritual vocabulary and contributed to how they saw themselves and the world around them. From more common concepts like “pikuach nefesh” – that saving a life nearly always takes precedent over other commandments – to fanciful storytelling that invokes ideas like “The Torah wasn’t given to the ministering angels,” this semester’s study will help ground you in the flow of Talmudic concepts that remain relevant in Jewish life today.
Our Talmud class is for learners of all levels – join a supportive group of women interested in seeing how these ancient texts continue to offer wisdom for our twenty-first century lives. All are welcome, whether you’re a long-time student or want to try out Talmud for the first time.
This class meets weekly from 10am-11am in person, with zoom options available. Location and zoom link provided upon registration.
